Ottawa- June 12, 2020 Ambassador Hassan Soroosh and the Honorable Kamal Khera, the Parliamentary Secretary of International Development, Global Affairs Canada, held a phone conversation this morning. The two sides discussed the COVID-19 situation, the ongoing response efforts at both national and global levels as well as bilateral cooperation in response to COVID-19. Ambassador Soroosh outlined the ongoing response efforts in Afghanistan and highlighted the relevant needs and challenges. He further explained about the economic and social impact of COVID-19 outbreak and the implications for women-owned MSMEs in the country. Ambassador Soroosh expressed his gratitude for Canada’s continued support to Afghanistan including the ongoing bilateral and multilateral support to COVID-19 response efforts in Afghanistan. Mr. Azim Wardak, Economic Counselor of the Embassy also attended the tele-meeting.
