Ambassador Hassan Soroosh had a virtual meeting this afternoon with the Honorable Francesco Sorbara, Member of Parliament and Co-Chair of the Canada-Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.

 

They discussed the COVID-19 response efforts both at national and international levels; the recent Afghanistan Conference 2020; the ongoing Afghanistan peace talks as well as the recent spike in the level of violence and tragic loss of lives in Afghanistan.

They further discussed future activities under the Parliamentary Friendship Group including possible joint virtual meetings with the parliament of Afghanistan.

 

Ambassador Soroosh expressed his appreciation for the renewed Canadian assistance to Afghanistan during the Afghanistan Conference 2020 as well as for Canada’s principled position in support of the peace process.

Mr. Sayed Mujtaba Ahmadi, Deputy Chief of Mission was also present in this virtual meeting.
