On April 22, 2026, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh delivered remarks at the opening of a one-day conference "Envisioning Afghanistan’s Future", organized by the Ottawa Consultative Process (OCP) in collaboration with the Center for International Policy Studies (CIPS) at the University of Ottawa.
The conference brought together scholars, friends of Afghanistan, leading advocates, community leaders, students, and youth activists.
In their remarks, the Ambassador and other speakers addressed the current situation in Afghanistan, reflected on lessons learned, and emphasized the importance of developing a shared narrative for the future of Afghanistan. They also highlighted the vital role of the diaspora including youth in shaping this vision.
Discussions further underscored the contribution of friends of Afghanistan in convening platforms for dialogue and strengthening a common framework grounded in human rights, inclusivity, and accountability.
