Ottawa: On January 23, 2026, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in an event held in Toronto by the Canadian Women’s Empowerment Association to mark the third anniversary of the Association’s establishment and the launch of its Women’s Empowerment television program. The event brought together a diverse group of community leaders, advocates, and women’s rights activists.

During the program, Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers addressed various dimensions of the tragic and ongoing situation facing women and girls in Afghanistan, highlighting the severe restrictions on their rights, access to education, and participation in public life. Speakers also discussed key priorities and initiatives related to women’s empowerment, with particular attention to programs supporting newcomer women, and strengthening community-based advocacy efforts.
