Ambassador Soroosh participated and spoke at the event organized by the Canada Humanitarian Initiatives (CHI) in solidarity with women and girls in Afghanistan
Ottawa: On January 12, 2026, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in an event held in Toronto by the Canada Humanitarian Initiatives (CHI) in solidarity with women and girls in Afghanistan. The event was attended by members of the Afghan diaspora community as well as friends of Afghanistan.
During his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the ongoing tragic situation facing women and girls in Afghanistan. He emphasized the importance of collective action in support of their cause, including the pursuit of accountability through international mechanisms and increased support for women-led initiatives.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Canada for its principled and rights-based approach to Afghanistan, as well as to all friends of Afghanistan, including members of Parliament, for their continued commitment and consistent engagement in support of the Afghan people, particularly women and girls.
