Ottawa- November 25, 2020

Tow Afghan girls are among 'inspiring and influential' women recognized by BBC Service. Somaya Faruqi and Laleh Osmany are among 100 women from around the world 'who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times.'

Somaya Faruqi, with other members of the first all-girls robotics team in Afghanistan, put efforts to build a low-cost ventilator for coronavirus patients.

Laleh Osmany, a vibrant women rights activist, is the founder of #WhereIsMyName campaign, who successfully advocated with the Afghan government to print mothers’ names on their children's national identity cards.

We extended our heartful congratulations to these brilliant young Afghan girls and wish them further success in the pursuit of knowledge and positive change.
