Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated and spoke at an event on "the Impact of Taliban’s Edicts on Women and Girls in Afghanistan" which was organized by the Women and Children Research and Advocacy Network (WCRAN) in collaboration with friends of Afghanistan in parliament in Ottawa.
Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers spoke about the tragic situation of women and girls under Taliban regime and stressed the importance of stronger collective actions in response to the worsening situation in the country.
Ambassador Soroosh highlighted the need for an all-encompassing approach which should include effective utilization of all available international accountability processes and mechanisms, including the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the principle of Universal Jurisdiction. In this context, he stated that the ongoing international efforts to codify gender apartheid and utilize the ICJ in relation to CEDAW should be further supported. He further highlighted the need to support and empower women-centered initiatives and women-led organizations, both inside and outside of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh extended his gratitude to WCRAN for its continued research activities and advocacy efforts and for presenting the findings and recommendations of their recent research on the impact of Taliban’s edicts on women and girls in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh also expressed his gratefulness to the government of Canada and friends of Afghanistan in parliament for their steadfast commitment in support of the people of Afghanistan particularly women and girls.

Earlier on X, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh expressed his profound congratulations to Ms. Nila Ibrahimi and Ms. Zholia Parsi on winning the International Children’s Peace Prize 2024 and the Martin Ennals Award respectively. Ambassador Soroosh stated that "they represent the true voices of Afghanistan’s courageous women and girls, who, in the face of unparalleled repression, stand at the forefront of the struggle—not only for their own rights but also for the rights of all Afghan citizens and our shared values."

This morning, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh joined fellow Heads of Mission at the Remembrance Day ceremony, where he laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Afghanistan to honor the fallen heroes from Canada, Afghanistan, and other nations who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our shared values.
Their courage, dedication, and sacrifices will forever be remembered.
We remain grateful to Canada for being a steadfast friend and partner to our people, for upholding a principled stance in response to the current multifaceted crisis in Afghanistan and for the ongoing humanitarian, resettlement, and advocacy support for the people of Afghanistan particularly women and girls.
OTTAWA: On November 04, 2024, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated and spoke in the Afghanistan-Canada Dialogue on Media Censorship under the Taliban which was co-organized by the Dashty Foundation and a number of Afghan and Canadian platforms in the parliament
Ambassador Soroosh spoke about the current tragic situation under the Taliban including the worsening media landscape which was once a vibrant and flourishing sector and a hallmark of a progressive society during the Republic.
Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers discussed ways to support the Afghan media outlets and journalists both within Afghanistan and beyond. They also discussed the importance of greater collective accountability measures with a view to make the Taliban accountable for their repressive actions.
Ambassador Soroosh expressed his gratitude to the government of Canada and friends of Afghanistan in the house and senate for their sustained commitment and engagement in support of the people of Afghanistan particularly women and girls.
The Embassy also hosted a dinner in honor of the organizers and participants of the event.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Consular Section in Ottawa will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2024 on the occasion of Remembrance Day in Canada.
OTTAWA: On October 24, 2024, the Afghan Women Parliamentarians and Leaders Network (AWPLN) hosted a conversation on Afghanistan in the parliament with Ambassador David Sproule, the Doha-based Special Representative of Canada for Afghanistan, Mr. Richard Bennett, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Afghanistan, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh, Ms. Nazifa Yousufi Bek, President of AWPLN, MPs and Senators, friends of Afghanistan, and human rights activists from the Afghan diaspora community.
Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers spoke about the current multifaceted crisis in Afghanistan and highlighted the importance of accountability measures under an all-tools approach to address the human rights catastrophe in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh expressed his gratefulness to Ambassador Sproule, Mr. Bennett, friends of Afghanistan in the parliament, and the government of Canada for their sustained commitment and continued collective efforts in support of the people of Afghanistan particularly women and girls.
On October 25, 2024, the Embassy hosted a lunch in honor of the visit by Ambassador Sproule and Mr. Bennett to Canada.

په دې محفل کې په کاناډا کې د افغانستان سفیر، ښاغلي حسن سروش او نورو ویناوالو د ښاغلي نعیمي د هڅو څخه د مننې تر څنګ د جمهوریت په دوره کې د فرصتونو، ننګونو او هڅو د انعکاس او لیکلو په اهمیت ټینګار وکړ او ویې ویل چې د لاسته راوړنو او ننګونو لیکل او همدارنګه په ځینو برخو کې د ناکامیو د ریښو او عواملو څېړل کولای شي مونږ سره په راتلونکي کې د افغانستان په روښانه او درست مسیر کې مرسته وکړي.

به تاریخ 20 اکتوبر 2024، در محفلی با حضور تعدادی از هموطنان گرامی مقیم تورنتو از کتابی که اخیرا در رابطه با تجارب کاری و تلاش های محترم عبدالجبار نعیمی، والی سابق میدان وردک، خوست، لغمان و کندز چاپ شده است رونمایی گردید.
آقای حسن سروش، سفیر افغانستان در کانادا و سایر سخنرانان در این محفل ضمن ابراز امتنان از تلاش های جناب محترم نعیمی، بر اهمیت نوشتن و انعکاس تلاشها، فرصت ها و چالش ها در عرصه های مختلف کاری در دوره جمهوریت تأکید نموده و اظهار داشتند که انعکاس دستاوردها و چالشها و همچنین بررسی ریشه ها و عوامل ناکامی در برخی از عرصه ها می تواند ما را در قراردادن افغانستان در مسیر درست در آینده کمک نماید.
سفیر افغانستان همچنین بر اهمیت استفاده از ظرفیت عظیم سیاسی و تخصصی هموطنان مقیم کانادا در تأثیرگذاری بر مباحث مرتبط با افغانستان و ضرورت انسجام هرچه بیشتر تلاش های دادخواهی برای مردم افغانستان و مخصوصا زنان و دختران شجاع افغانستان در شرایط غم انگیز فعلی تأکید نمود.
