The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Consular Section in Ottawa will be closed on Monday, February 19, 2024, on the occasion of Family Day.

به اطلاع مراجعین محترم رسانیده می شود که سفارت جمهوري اسلامي افغانستان در اوتاوا به روز پنجشنبه مورخ 15فبروری 2024 مطابق با 26 دلو 1402، به مناسبت سالروز خروج عساکر شوروی سابق از افغانستان تعطیل می باشد.
ټولو محترمو مراجعینو ته خبر ورکول کیږي چې، په اوتاوا کې د ا.ا.ج سفارت او د قونسلي چارو څانګه به د پنجشنبې په ورځ چې د ۲۰۲4 د فبروري له 15 او د ۱۴۰2 د سلواغې(دلوې) له 26 نېټې سره سمون لري، له افغانستان څخه د پخواني شوروي ځواکونو د وتلو د کلیزې په مناسبت تړلي وي.
The Embassy of Afghanistan in Ottawa will be closed on Thursday, February 15, 2024 on the occasion of the anniversary of the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Afghanistan.
OTTAWA: JANUARY 23, 2024
Earlier on X, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh wrote the following: " Our diaspora communities around the world including here in Canada continue to protest against targeted killings of our Hazara compatriots, gender apartheid, and arbitrary arrest of women and girls in Afghanistan under the Taliban demanding international support in putting an end to these all other types of human rights violations in Afghanistan."

ANNOUNCEMENT
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Consular Section in Ottawa will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, 2023 as well as on Monday, January 01, 2024 due to Holiday Season and New Year’s Day .
OTTAWA: DECEMBER 10, 2023
Ambassador Hassan Soroosh met today with H.E. Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Canada. They discussed various issues of mutual interest and collaboration between the two missions.
Ambassador Soroosh thanked Ambassador Casttellanos for his longstanding friendship with the people of Afghanistan and expressed his gratefulness to the government of the Dominican Republic for all the advocacy efforts in support of the people of Afghanistan particularly Afghan women and girls including through supporting joint statements and programs on Afghanistan.
OTTAWA: DECEMBER 6, 2023
On December 06, 2023, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated and spoke in an event on women’s rights in Afghanistan which was organized by the Afghan Women Parliamentarians and Leaders Network (AWPLN) in Ottawa.
Ambassador Soroosh spoke about the tragic situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and referred to the increasing calls both nationally and internationally for the recognition and criminalization of gender apartheid in the case of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh stated that Afghan women and girls should be given the opportunity to participate in all decision-making processes that have an impact on their lives including in the international meetings on Afghanistan. Referring to the recent assessment conducted by the United Nations, he reiterated that Afghan women need to be given the opportunity to share their concerns and observations on this document and to be meaningfully involved in the relevant mechanisms and processes.
He also stressed the importance of greater international support for women’s rights activists and women-led initiatives inside Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh expressed his gratefulness for the previous support provided by Canada as one of the largest donors to Afghanistan to many important areas including education, women’s empowerment, and health sector as well as for the ongoing resettlement, humanitarian and advocacy support for Afghanistan.
Other speakers and panelists included members of Parliament and high-ranking officials for the government of Canada, international activists, community leaders, former Afghan MPs and civil society activists from the Afghan diaspora community.
On December 07, 2023, the Embassy hosted a breakfast reception for the Toronto-based participants of the said event where Ambassador Soroosh thanked the AWPLN leadership and participants of the event for their continued commitment and engagement in support of Afghan women and girls.
OTTAWA, NOVEMBER 25, 2023
Ambassador Hassan Soroosh hosted a farewell dinner recently in honor of H.E. Martin Harvey, High Commissioner of New Zealand to Canada and Mrs. Harvey, former President of the Heads of Mission Spouses Association (HOMSA) along with other great friends of Afghanistan, Honorable Andrew Leslie, former Member of Parliament, and his spouse, Mrs. Paris Jefferson; and Ms. Lisa Haley, President of the Diplomatic Hospitality Group.
Ambassador Soroosh thanked all of them for their continued friendship and commitment in support of the people of Afghanistan and wished High Commissioner Harvey and Mrs. Harvey all the best as they are leaving Ottawa this week.
