This past week, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated and delivered remarks at the opening of the “Ba To” Cultural Festival, an event co-organized by the Afghan, Iranian, and Tajik diaspora communities in Toronto.
The festival was a vibrant celebration of shared heritage, featuring captivating cultural and musical performances, traditional cuisine, and exhibitions of entrepreneurial activities and locally made products from all three communities.
In his address, Ambassador Soroosh expressed deep gratitude to the organizers for their dedication and vision. He stated that the event was not only a celebration of shared cultural roots and rich heritage, but also a powerful reflection of the strong solidarity, cultural unity, and mutual respect that bind the communities together
He emphasized that gatherings such as this not only help preserve and promote cultural traditions but also highlight the important contributions of diaspora communities to the multicultural fabric of Canadian society.
He concluded by expressing his hope that this festival would serve as a model for future collaborative initiatives of this kind.
On August 16, 2025, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in and delivered remarks at the opening of the Afghan Grand Bazaar in Whitby, one of the flagship events marking the anniversary of Afghanistan’s restoration of independence.
Featuring traditional cuisine, music, art, handmade crafts, and a wide range of entrepreneurial and business products, the Bazaar offered a vibrant celebration of Afghan culture and commerce.
He highlighted the remarkable contributions of the Afghan diaspora across various sectors in Canada, noting that events like this not only honor cultural heritage but also celebrate the vital role Afghan diaspora, like many other diaspora communities, play in shaping Canada’s multicultural identity.
He further underscored the Bazaar’s role in showcasing the community’s potential to drive innovation, grow businesses, and strengthen trade ties between Canada and other nations.
He referred to Canada’s position as a global leader in promoting diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect and in that spirit, he expressed gratitude to the Government of Canada and the many friends of Afghanistan in Canada for their ongoing support, particularly for newcomers who are building new lives and enriching Canadian society with their resilience, talent, and hope.
He concluded by thanking the organizers for hosting such a meaningful event and expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue in the future.

به تاریخ 22 اگست 2025، مراسم بزرگ تجلیل از 106مین سالگرد استرداد استقلال افغانستان توسط مرکز خدمات اجتماعی افغان در تورنتو برگزار شد.
در این برنامه تعداد کثیری از هموطنان مقیم کانادا، اعضای پارلمان کانادا و اعضای کابینه حکومت آنتریو و دوستان افغانستان اشترک نمودند.
در جریان این مراسم از خدمات و فعالیت های مرکز خدمات اجتماعی افغان و همچنین تعدادی از نخبگان و فعالین جامعه دیاسپورا تقدیر به عمل آمد.
در ختم برنامه، بخش هنر و موسیقی با حضور هنرمند مشهور افغانستان خانم نغمه برګزار شد.
آقای محمدعظیم وردک به نمایندگی از سفارت افغانستان در کانادا در این برنامه اشتراک و سخنرانی نمود.
On August 22, 2025, the Afghan Network for Social Services (ANSS) hosted an event in Toronto to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the restoration of Afghanistan’s Independence.
The event was attended by many members of the Afghan diaspora community, members of Parliament and Cabinet from Ontario, and friends of Afghanistan.
During the ceremony, ANSS leadership and some prominent Afghan activists and intellectuals were recognized for their efforts and services.
The event also featured a musical segment with the presence of the renowned Afghan singer, Ms. Naghma.
Mr. Azim Wardak participated and spoke at the event on behalf of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Canada.
به تاریخ 25 اگست 2025، مراسم تجلیل از 106مین سالگرد استرداد استقلال افغانستان توسط سازمان خدمات اجتماعی برای زنان مهاجر افغان و خانواده های شان (AWFSO) در شهر اوتاوا برگزار شد .
در این برنامه تعدادی از هموطنان مقیم کانادا از جمله شخصیت های فرهنگی و اجتماعی، فعالین حقوق بشری و جوانان اشتراک نمودند.
آقای حسن سروش، سفیر افغانستان در کانادا راجع به این مناسبت مهم تاریخی و اهمیت تلاش های منسجم دادخواهی برای یک آینده باثبات و مبتنی بر اراده مردم و عدالت اجتماعی در افغانستان صحبت نمود.
در جریان این مراسم از فعالیت ها و تلاش های داوطلبانه برخی از جوانان تقدیر به عمل آمد.

ANNOUNCEMENT
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Consular Section in Ottawa will be closed on Monday August 4, 2025, on the occasion of Civic Holiday.
On July 27, 2025, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in the second meeting of the Ottawa Consultative Process (OCP), held in Ottawa with the attendance of scholars, activists, and former diplomats from the Afghan diaspora community.
During the event, Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers spoke about various dimensions of the ongoing multifaceted crisis under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. They emphasized the urgent need for collective action grounded in a clear and unified narrative and in support of an inclusive, representative, peaceful, and prosperous future for all Afghan citizens.
Participants underscored the important role of the OCP in amplifying this shared vision. They also voiced deep concern over the forced deportation of Afghan refugees and migrants from neighboring countries, stressing the need for their voluntary and dignified return in line with international conventions and the responsibilities of host nations.
Furthermore, participants called for increased and direct international support for those forcibly returned from neighboring countries. They also commended the spontaneous aid efforts initiated by Afghans both inside the country and within the diaspora in recent weeks.
On July 23, 2025, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in a conference on Afghanistan in Parliament organized by the Afghanistan Young Leaders Organization (AYLO) in collaboration with the NATO Association of Canada and the Office of Hon. MP Ali Ehsassi.
Ambassador Soroosh spoke about the ongoing, multifaceted crisis under Taliban rule, emphasizing the urgent need for a revitalized and coordinated international response. He underscored the critical importance of sustained, collective efforts in support of an inclusive, representative, and peaceful future for Afghanistan. In this context, he highlighted the significance of a structured space that reflects the collective voice of Afghan political and civic forces.
Ambassador Soroosh expressed his gratitude to Canada and other like-minded nations for their steadfast commitment and ongoing engagement in support of the people of Afghanistan, particularly women and girls.
The Embassy also hosted a dinner in honor of the organizers and participants of the event, providing an opportunity to express appreciation for their efforts and to foster further dialogue and collaboration on issues related to Afghanistan.
