Announcement
The Embassy’s working hours during the Holy Month of Raman will be from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in an event which was held in Toronto to inaugurate the PUL Radio and Media Center. The event was attended by many members of the Afghan diaspora community and friends of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh spoke about the worsening media landscape under Taliban and the role of diaspora-led media outlets in raising awareness on the current multifaceted crisis in Afghanistan and amplifying the voices of the Afghan people.
Ambassador Soroosh expressed hope that the PUL Radio and Media Center will be able to launch dedicated programs focusing on these important areas, as well as addressing the needs and priorities of the diaspora community in collaboration with other Afghan - Canadian media outlets and journalists based in Canada.

Earlier on X, Ambassador Hassan Soroosh wrote the following on the recent statement by women foreign ministers on Afghanistan:
"We are greatly thankful for yet another strong statement from women foreign ministers on the ongoing and systematic human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly those affecting women and girls. Thank you for emphasizing the need for collective action under international accountability mechanisms, advocating for the “ full, equal, meaningful, and safe participation of Afghan women in discussions about the country’s future”, and for your unwavering commitment to amplifying and supporting the vital work of Afghan women’s rights activists, human rights defenders, and civil society leaders."

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Ottawa will be closed on Thursday, February 15, 2024, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Afghanistan and Monday February 17, 2025 on the Occasion of Family Day.
OTTAWA: FEBRUARY 1, 2025
Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in an event which was held in Toronto to inaugurate the Canada Humanitarian Initiatives (CHI). The event was attended by some diaspora community members and friends of Afghanistan.
Ambassador Soroosh spoke about the importance of collective efforts and sustained support and services for Afghan newcomers and extended his gratitude to CHI leadership and other similar platforms and networks of volunteers for their ongoing and planned activities in this regard.
Ambassador Soroosh also expressed his gratefulness to the Government of Canada for all the ongoing humanitarian, advocacy and resettlement support for Afghanistan as well as to all friends of Afghanistan including those in Parliament for their continued commitment and consistent engagement in support of the people of Afghanistan particularly women and girls.
Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Azim Wardak and Mr. Abed Hashimi from the Consular Section also attended the event.
OTTAWA: JANUARY 4, 2025
Ambassador Hassan Soroosh participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Afghan Canadian Sports Association of Ottawa (ACSAO).
Ambassador Soroosh and other speakers spoke about the importance of sport activities for physical and mental health as well as for building social connections and promoting shared values.
Ambassador Soroosh extended his congratulations to the founders of ACSAO and expressed hope that the Association will be able to co-organize various sports activities particularly for newcomers from Afghanistan in collaboration with other Canadian and diaspora-led sports organizations.
