HAPPY CANADA DAY!

OTTAWA: JULY 1, 2025

Read a message by Ambassador Hassan Soroosh on the occasion of Canada Day:

On this Canada Day 2025, and on behalf of my family and the staff at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Canada, I extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to all Canadian, both at home and around the world.

As we celebrate the values that define Canada including freedom, diversity and inclusion, we also take a moment to honour the deep and enduring bonds of friendship between the peoples of Afghanistan and Canada. This day serves as a reminder of the shared sacrifices and joint efforts made by brave men and women from both nations in defense of our common values and shared legacy.

We remain profoundly grateful for Canada’s steadfast humanitarian, resettlement, and advocacy support for the people of Afghanistan, particularly Afghan women and girls who continue to face unimaginable hardship under Taliban rule. Canada's unwavering commitment has provided strength, hope, and inspiration to all those who continue to strive for justice, dignity, and freedom.

We also recognize with deep appreciation the invaluable contributions of the Afghan-Canadian diaspora community and the many friends of Afghanistan across Canada. Your advocacy, engagement, and solidarity play a critical role in amplifying the voices and aspirations of the people of Afghanistan, and in helping shape a future that is inclusive, representative, and grounded in human rights.

Canada’s principled leadership and consistent engagement with Afghan human rights defenders, women’s rights advocates, civil society actors, and diaspora organizations have been instrumental in sustaining the hope for a better Afghanistan. These efforts reflect the enduring values we share—pluralism, justice, compassion, and a firm belief in the inherent dignity and rights of all people.

Looking ahead, the Embassy of Afghanistan in Canada remains firmly committed to working in close partnership with Canadian institutions, the Afghan-Canadian community, friends of Afghanistan and international allies to advance our shared goals and values.

Happy Canada Day!
